Essay on Lao Tzus Teachings on Effective Government

American political government contained two large parties which control most of the Congress: the Democrat and Republic parties. Both parties have held different points of view on different topics such as health care. However an effective government is also based on a how a leader governs the country. Lao Tzu was an ancient Chinese philosopher, and Niccolo Machiavelli, in The Prince, an Italian philosopher, present ideas that are very contradictory to each other. Lao Tzu appears liberal as a master who will not control the people while Machiavelli states a prince must emerge and take control of his people. Although both appear to be more contradictory, but they are appear more consentient than they are appear to be. A wise leader will provide the people with what they need while he also emphasized the virtues that th e leader must possess in order to gain their trusts. Moreover in Lao Tzu’s teaching, he especially advocated the idea of moderation. He says, â€Å"For government a country well there is nothing better than moderation† (Verse 59). According Lao Tzu’s laissez-faire attitude about management, this was the key that proved the gain the trust from his citizens and as well respect from neighboring countries. By emphasizing Lao principle of non-intervention, his idea was also well-integrated into United States’ economic system, free market, a market that without economic intervention and regulation by government. Also, Ronald Ernest Ron Paul was another example leader that met under the criteria of a good leader. He was the founder the advocacy group Campaign for Liberty. On his political positions, he had a policy of non-intervention which made him the only Republican presidential candidate to have voted against the Iraq War Resolution. Also, he supported the free trade, lower tax, and small government. If he had not supported the idea of non-intervention, then he would not able to do everything that he has done to benefit the government and the people.
